Each box is built from recycled kraft board, thick enough to hold a stack of four without the bottom box bowing under the weight. The lid is the part that actually decides whether a stack stays a stack: it seats down into a lip around the top edge of the box rather than resting loose on the rim, so a stack doesn't slide apart when you pull one box off the top or knock the stack while reaching past it.
At 22 litres each, one box holds a reasonable stack of folded linens, a season of out-of-rotation clothing, or a mixed load of books and paperwork. Buy one to try it, or order four or more and the per-box basis drops — the exact figure comes back with your inquiry reply.
How the stacking and lid actually work
The lid has a recessed edge that drops about a centimeter inside the box wall below it, which is what keeps four stacked boxes lined up square instead of leaning as the stack grows. Pull the lid off the top box and it comes away clean, without dragging the box underneath along with it — a problem we ran into with an early supplier sample where the lid friction was too tight and lifted the whole stack.
Kraft board takes handling better than most people expect from something that looks like heavy cardboard. It's the same recycled fiber board used in shipping cartons, just finished and scored for a clean fold, and it holds its shape through repeated stacking and unstacking far longer than a thin decorative box would. It is not, however, a substitute for a sealed container in a genuinely damp space — a garage with a leak or a basement that floods will still get the board wet, and we say that plainly rather than imply otherwise.
We do not carry plastic storage. It cracks in a Texas summer and we are not going to pretend otherwise, which is exactly why kraft board and the linen bins next to it on the shelf are the two storage formats we actually sell.
