Storage

Linen storage bins with stitched corners, built to hold their shape after the third fold-down.

A linen shell over a collapsible board frame, sold as a pair, 38 by 26 by 24 cm each. Linen bins are stitched, not glued, at the corners, which is the detail that decides whether a bin survives two years of folding flat and standing back up.

Each bin is a linen shell wrapped over a collapsible board frame, which means it folds flat for storage when it's empty and pops back into a square-cornered box when it's not. The frame is what most cheap fabric bins skip, and it's why they sag at the sides within a month of holding anything heavier than a light blanket.

We stitch the corner seams rather than gluing them, the same standard we hold the felt dividers and the laundry basket liner to. Glued seams look fine on day one and start separating at the stress points — the corners — by month three, right when the bin is actually loaded with sweaters or linens instead of sitting empty in a showroom.

Material, close up

The stitched corner, up close

The weave and the seam line, shown at the corner where a folding bin takes the most repeated stress.

The linen itself is a mid-weight weave, heavy enough to hold its own shape once it's tensioned over the board frame, and light enough that the bin doesn't add much weight of its own before you've put anything inside it. You can see the individual weave lines in the crop here, along with the stitch line running along the seam — no glue bead, no fraying edge.

We chose linen over a coated canvas because canvas coatings crack with repeated folding, exactly the motion this bin goes through every time it's collapsed flat for off-season storage. Linen doesn't have a coating to crack.

Why we won't sell you plastic instead

We do not carry plastic storage bins. It cracks in a Texas summer and we are not going to pretend otherwise — a garage or an uninsulated closet here can sit well above 40°C for weeks, and rigid plastic gets brittle and yellow under that kind of heat cycling far faster than linen and board ever will. If you ask us for a plastic version of this bin, we'll say no and explain why, not upsell you into something we don't stand behind.

Want the full case for it? The Storage category page covers the refusal in more detail, alongside the kraft storage boxes that sit next to these bins on a shelf.
